What a Free Strategy Call covers

A 30-minute phone call, at no cost. Bill will:

  1. Ask what you want your retirement income to do.
  2. Review any offer or statement you already have, if you would like.
  3. Explain the options that may fit, including the trade-offs: surrender periods, caps, fees, and income projections.
  4. Put any numbers in writing so you can compare them with your CPA, attorney, or family.

You do not need to bring anything. A recent retirement account statement helps if you have one.

How to choose an annuity professional (anywhere)

Whoever you work with, ask these questions:

  • Are you licensed in my state? In New Jersey, you can confirm a producer’s license at the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance website.
  • How are you paid? Ask directly, and ask whether compensation differs by product.
  • Will you show me the surrender schedule, caps, and fees in writing?
  • What is the insurer's financial strength rating?
  • Is there a bonus, and what does it require? Bonuses often come with longer surrender periods or vesting schedules.
  • What is the free-look period? Most states give you a set number of days after delivery to return the contract for a full refund.

They are not registered with the SEC or FINRA. FIAs are not FDIC insured, not bank deposits, and are not guaranteed by any federal or state government agency. All guarantees, including income riders and death benefits, are backed solely by the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Hypothetical examples, illustrations, and income projections shown on this page are for educational purposes only. They do not represent any specific product, carrier, or contract, and do not guarantee future results. Actual results will vary based on contract terms, index performance, caps, participation rates, spreads, rider fees, surrender charges, and the age and health of the annuitant at the time of purchase. Annuity products involve surrender charges during the surrender period. Early withdrawals may be subject to surrender charges and a 10% IRS penalty if taken before age 59½. Withdrawals in excess of the free-withdrawal amount may reduce the income base and future income payments, sometimes permanently. Rider fees, when applicable, are deducted from the account value and may reduce or eliminate account value over time. Consult a qualified tax or legal professional for guidance specific to your situation. Suitability: Annuity products may not be suitable for all individuals. Factors including age, financial situation, investment objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon, and liquidity needs should be carefully considered before purchasing any annuity product.
